The Russian team of referees headed by Sergei Karasev has been appointed for the match Sporting – Besiktas, in the 4th round of the Champions League. It is interesting that Vitor Melo Pereira, head of the RFU refereeing department, confessed his love for this Portuguese team. “I have been rooting for Sporting since my childhood”, he told Russian journalists in September.
Igor Demeshko and Maxim Gavrilin were appointed Karasev's assistants, while Kirill Levnikov will be fourth official. The duties of video assistants are assigned to the Spaniard Juan Martinez Munuera and the Pole Bartosz Frankovski. Their work will be assessed by Frank De Bleeckere, a member of the expert and judicial committee, under the President of the RFU. The match between Sporting and Besiktas will take place on November 3 in Lisbon.
