A brilliant and practically 'heroic' performance by a group of footballers has saved the life of a 29-year-old referee who suffered a heart attack during a football match played at Moratalaz sports centre.
"A young man, who refereed a game at Moratalaz sports centre, has suffered a cardiac arrest. The players have done CPR until the arrival of SAMUR, which with a DESA, has managed to regain pulse and awareness. Congratulations to all!" said the official Madrid emergency account. As detailed in the statement, the referee collapsed in the middle of the game and thanks to the rapid and effective intervention of several footballers - they performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation - the emergency people arrived in time and were able to reverse the cardiac arrest and save the life of the 29-year-old man. After the intervention, he was transferred to Gregorio Marañón Hospital, where he is stable, out of danger and recovering.
