Kircher will replace Frohlich to become new referee boss in Germany

Long-time Bundesliga and FIFA referee Knut Kircher is to become the new head of refereeing at the German Football Association. As the DFB announced on Wednesday, the 54-year-old from Rottenburg will replace Lutz Michael Fröhlich as Managing Director of Sport and Communication at DFB Schiri GmbH on 1 July 2024.
The 66-year-old Fröhlich announced at the end of July that he would not be renewing his contract, which runs until 31 December 2024. His successor will now take over six months earlier than initially planned. Kircher officiated a total of 244 Bundesliga matches between 2001 and 2016 and was also a FIFA referee from 2004 to 2012. After his career in soccer, he was a referee observer at elite level.
