UEFA Champions League Final 2023: Marciniak (POL)

Polish referee Szymon Marciniak is preparing for one of the biggest games of his career as he takes charge of Saturday's Champions League final. The Pole has enjoyed an incredible season having already officiated the World Cup final in Qatar. Just over six months on from working at the biggest international fixture, Marciniak will turn his attention to arguably the most important match in club football. Manchester City and Inter Milan will contest the final in Istanbul after successfully forging a path through the knockout stages. According to Sporting Free, Marciniak will receive $10,000 for officiating the Champions League final. This is the same amount which referees receive for every Champions League fixture from the group stages onwards. Marciniak has refereed eight matches in the competition this season, meaning he has racked up $80,000. The 42-year-old will be assisted on Saturday by Pawel Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz. The two assistant referees are understood to make $3,000 each for their contribution to the final. (Source: Planet Sport)
