Referee Björn Kuipers has left his whistle after 16 years. Do you want to get this cool collectible item? With this auction, you can! The whistle was used during the last European Championship final. The proceeds will support the Emma Children's Hospital Foundation.
Kuipers received the whistle as a gift from a top referee from Japan (Nishimura). The whistle has been used by Kuipers at the Euro in 2016, the World Cup in 2018 and the final of the European Championship this year. The idea to auction the whistle originated in the 538 Morning Show. This auction aims to raise money for the Emma Children's Hospital Foundation. This money is spent on innovative treatments. The entire proceeds of this auction will be used for research into stomach, liver and intestinal diseases in children. Kuipers’ daughter has also had help from the specialists of the Emma Children's Hospital in the past. "We are very grateful for what they have done for our daughter," said the retired Dutch referee.
