Colombian VAR and AR suspended by CONMEBOL

During the World Cup qualifier between the Uruguay and Paraguay, at 23 minutes, Luis Suarez gave a direct pass to Jonathan Rodriguez, but the assistant referee cancelled the goal due to Matias Vecino’s offside position. Since there was doubt, the VAR reviewed the play and “confirmed” the offside. The match ended 0-0, so both Uruguay and Paraguay now have seven points in the standings.
“The actions of video assistant referee Nicolas Gallo and assistant referee Miguel Roldan have been technically analyzed by the Referees Committee and concluded that they have made serious and clear errors in the exercise of their functions during the match, specifically in the following situation: Min 23 – Cancellation of Uruguay Goal due to supposed offside. As a consequence, the Referees Committee decided to suspend referees Nicolas Gallo and Miguel Roldan for an indefinite period of time in the exercise of their functions in all competitions organized by CONMEBOL”.
