Uruguayan referee Leodan Gonzalez has tested again positive for Covid-19 and has been replaced from Copa America. Due to the same reason, he already lost, at the beginning of this year, his appointments to the FIFA Club World Cup and the CONMEBOL Sudamericana Final. Hopefully, he can recover on time for the Olympic Games next month in Tokyo.
The CONMEBOL Referees Committee announced the replacement of VAR and assistant referees for Copa America 2021. Referees Leodan Gonzalez (URU) and Daniel Fedorczuk (URU), initially appointed as VARs, will be replaced by Andres Cunha, who will perform in the same position. In addition, Nicolas Gallo (COL) and Miguel Roldan (COL), initially appointed as VAR and assistant referee, respectively, will be replaced by Juan Soto (VEN) and John Leon (COL) to fulfill the same functions.
