FIFA Referee Schneider demoted to second division in France

The French Referees Committee recently released their national rankings. Referees: 1. Clement Turpin, 2. Benoit Bastien, 3. Stephanie Frappart. Assistant referees: 1. Nicolas Danos, 2. Cyril Gringore, 3. Hicham Zakrani. The committee also demoted three referees from the first division: Jerome Miguelgorry, Aurelien Petit and Frank Schneider.
Born in 1979, Frank Schneider started his referee career at 15 and was promoted at the federal level in 2004. During the 2010/2011 season, Schneider was called upon to referee the match between Auxerre and PSG on 5 March 2011, during the strike of Federal referees 1 and 2. The resident of Strasbourg had a good performance that evening and two months later was promoted to Ligue 2. After three years, Schneider (re)rediscovered Ligue 1 during Nice-Toulouse in August 2014. Appointed international in 2016 and placed on the ninth position on the FIFA list, Schneider became a well-established referee in France, refereeing top matches, including a title-decider and the French League Cup final between PSG and Monaco in 2017. On 30 November 2016, Frank Schneider stood out in the media with a caution issued to Edinson Cavani during PSG-Angers. The Uruguayan striker was sanctioned after taking off his jersey and paying tribute to the victims of the air crash that claimed the lives of 71 people in Colombia. In his most recent Ligue 1 match, Schneider sent off Marseille coach Jorge Sampaoli after a verbal exchange that was recorded on video by Canal+. After 6 years on the international list, Frank Schneider will lose his FIFA badge at the end of 2021. Something similar happened in 2019, when the same French Referees Committee demoted another FIFA Referee, Nicholas Rainville, who spent 7 years on the international list and was one of the best French VARs.
