The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) reinforced its commitment towards building on and maintaining the high standards of match officials on the Continent by launching the AFC Refereeing STAR Program – a remote education initiative that provides Member Associations (MAs) with exclusive and customisable refereeing resources.
Available to all 47 AFC MAs, the AFC Refereeing STAR Program aims to provide match officials with a range of unique courses to be delivered online, which will enable the AFC to enhance the delivery of its education program by embracing the latest technological advances. The program adds to the AFC’s comprehensive refereeing education agenda which includes a wide range of ground-breaking initiatives launched by the AFC, including the AFC Referee Academy, the AFC MA Refereeing Administration Project and access to unlimited teaching resources through the AFC Refereeing 360 Online Platform.
The innovative education system was created on the pillars of the acronym ‘STAR’:
· Support MAs with access to high-quality education and expert advice;
· Transform learning into an engaging and customisable experience;
· Adapt to the rapidly changing environment with sustainable solutions;
· Rise by building resilience and turning challenges into opportunities.
The program will offer courses covering insightful topics in world refereeing within the categories of technical, fitness, teaching resources and administration which will be conducted by a pool of trained coaches including referee instructors as well as retired and active referees.
