Russian Ivanov has become Head of Refereeing in Qatar

The former Head of Refereeing and Inspection department of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Valentin Ivanov, has assumed the position of Head of Refereeing department of the Qatar Football Association.
Ivanov, 62, is on the list of 22 FIFA referee instructors from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). As a referee, Ivanov officiated the semi-final match of the 2003 UEFA Champions League between Milan and Inter, the quarter-final game of the 2004 European Championship between Czechia and Denmark. At the 2006 FIFA World Cup he refereed the Portugal-Netherlands match, in which he showed 16 yellow cards to the players of both teams. “Valentin worked for FIFA for a long time, he has a lot of experience. He was offered this position in Qatar, and he is now there. Today, he assumed the role of Head of Refereeing department of the Qatar Football Association”, confirmed his mother, Lidia Ivanova, two-time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics.
