Juan Carlos Loustau (1947) attended many international events, such as the 1990 FIFA World Cup, the 1987 FIFA U-20 World Cup, as well as the 1989 and 1991 Copa America. He also refereed the final of the 1990 Copa Libertadores between the Olimpia Club of Paraguay and the Barcelona Sporting Club of Ecuador.
His son, Patricio Loustau (1975), also became a FIFA refere and was appointed the 2013 South American Sub-20 and the 2016 Copa America Centenario. In 2020, 30 years after his father, he refereed the Copa Libertadores final between the Brazilian teams Santos and Palmeiras.
