Last week, Stephanie Frappart became the first woman to referee a men's Champions League game between Juventus and Dynamo Kiev. She was also the first female referee in Ligue 2 (March 2014), Ligue 1 (April 2019), UEFA Super Cup (August 2019), UEFA Nations League (September 2020), UEFA Europa League (October 2020), Logically, she won at the same time her second IFFHS Award of the World’s Best Female Referee 2020 after 2019! At the second place, Switzerland’s Esther Staubli, who realized a great season, and third, Kateryna Monzul, Ukraine’s IFFHS Award winner of 2015. After Bibiana Steinhaus, Germany’s four times IFFHS Winner, announced her retirement as a referee in September, Frappart became the new symbol of the woman’s refereeing. (Source: IFFHS)
