Brych chosen Referee of the Year in Germany

Felix Brych (photo) was chosen for the third time Germany's Referee of the Year, after having already been awarded the same title in 2012/2013 and 2014/2015. The 40-year-old referee from München refereed 3 matches, including a quarter-final, at the Euro 2016 in France, as well as a semi-final in the UEFA Champions League. The woman Referee of the Year was chosen Riem Hussein, who previously won the same title in 2012/2013.
Former FIFA referee Lutz-Michael Fröhlich (Berlin) is the new refereeing chief of the German Football Association (DFB). The 58-year-old graduate in communications management takes over the task of Herbert Fandel, who had announced his retirement in January. "I am not a patriarch, but rather see myself as a communicative person, who wants to solve problems together with the team", said Fröhlich during a referee course in Grassau (Bavaria).
