No Euro 2024 final for referee Daniele Orsato, who was ousted from the last three matches of the continental competition. After UEFA has excluded him from the list of final candidates, Orsato packed his bags and has already returned home to Italy.
A surprise rejection, especially after the semi-final appointments of the Slovenian Vincic for Spain-France and the German outsider Zwayer for Netherlands-England. Orsato seemed the favorite for the final in Berlin, but instead the referee boss Rosetti discarded him, along with the Portuguese Soares Dias, supporting the candidacy of the Pole Marciniak, fresh from a season of ups and downs, marked by a disaster in the Champions League semi-final between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Turpin and Letexier are also in the race. Orsato instead had to hang up his whistle after the Euro quarter-final England-Switzerland that became the last game of his impressive career and now he will have to resign from the FIFA List as well.
